The club

Small World Cinema Club is a small pop-up cinema, appearing at Foundation Coffee House in Manchester’s Northern Quarter once a month. Showing a different independent film at each event to an audience of around thirty people, the titles we screen tend not to be the freshest new releases, but rather a selection of those from the last fifteen years that deserve a second screening.

SWCC was created with the intention of being as much a ‘club’ as it is a ‘cinema’. As well as providing Manchester’s film lovers with the chance to enjoy some of the best independent titles from around the world, it’s designed to create a space in which a diverse cross section of the community can bond and socialise over the cinema experience. We like to think that, while the screenings are what bring our guests together, the moments shared before and after are what make the club special. Audience members are very much encouraged to hang around for a drink and a chat, ahead of the film and once it’s finished!

Our belief is that film can bring people from all walks of life together. Our goal is to make quality independent cinema accessible to everyone.

Our home

Our little club is hosted by the very kind folk at Foundation Coffee House on Lever Street in the Northern Quarter.

Serving up some of the best coffee in Manchester and a generous selection of beers, wines and gins (alongside a range of delicious bar snacks), Foundation's well-stocked bar and generous space means that all our guests can enjoy a bevvy and a bite with the film and stay for a bit of post-screening chit-chat too.

Hopefully see you there soon!

FAQs

Can we hang out before and/or after the film?

Definitely. In fact, please do! The get-together is an important part of Small World Cinema Club, and we’re fortunate enough to have a wonderful space in which to host our events. We love for our guests to take advantage of that, whether pre-film, after the credits roll, or both!

Can we just stay for the film and skip the hanging out?

Of course! We think our club provides an opportunity to see a great selection of films that you won’t find being shown anywhere else in the city. So, if that’s all you’re in it for, there’s no obligation to stick around.

Any drinks and snacks available?

Hell yes. Foundation’s well-stocked bar is open before, during and after our screenings, serving up some of Manchester’s tastiest craft beers, as well as an impressive selection of wines and gins. That’s alongside its menu of delicious ethically-sourced hot drinks (including some of the city’s best coffee) and a selection of mouthwatering bar snacks. Yum yum.

Why all the different prices?

In short, so that nobody has to pay more than they can afford to. Instead of being driven by profit, SWCC’s mission is to make great film and unique cinema experiences accessible to everyone - building a diverse community that’s inclusive, rather than exclusive. That’s why we price our tickets according to what our guests are able pay, rather than squeezing out as much as possible from those who can afford the most.

Do I need proof of income for discounted tickets?

Nope. We trust you. <3

Should I print my tickets?

Once you purchase tickets, you’ll get a confirmation email which we just need to see on the door. You can bring it on your phone or, if you’d rather print it out, that works too.

Are tickets available on the door?

In the unlikely event that there are still spaces available on the night, any remaining tickets can be purchased on the door (card and cash both fine). Don't count on it though!

Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?

Yes, as long as you request it at least two weeks before the event. Just reply to the confirmation email from when you bought your tickets and let us know you can no longer come along.

I've got another question - who can I ask?

Drop us a line at hello@smallworldcinemaclub.com and we'll get back to you soon!
